Prayer is one of the most incredible, most important, most often misunderstood, and least-utilized privileges enjoyed by believers in Christ. Preachers nowadays often present the subject of prayer in an almost spooky, superstitious way. They act as if prayer is their own, personal, lucky stone that they can rub and get whatever they ask for. Many Christians flock towards this type of "name it and claim it" preaching, and if they get what they asked for, they declare, "See! It works! Prayer works!" But if not, they begin to doubt God's promises, and doubt God's faithfulness. As a result, many Christians are hurt and confused because they prayed about something and think that God didn't answer their pleas.
According to 1 Timothy 1:16, God saved Saul of Tarsus, the chief of sinners, and set him forth as a pattern for other believers in this age of grace as the apostle Paul. With this knowledge in mind, believers should be asking themselves these questions: When Paul prayed, what did he pray for? What did Paul deem important as he prayed?
In this series, we will dive into God's Word in order to help us properly understand what a blessing God's gift of prayer can be in our lives!
